Family Feud

“For it has been declared... that there are contentions among you... each of you says, ‘I am of Paul,’ or ‘I am of Apollos,’ or ‘I am of Cephas,’ or ‘I am of Christ.’ Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? For you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?”

i used to be a Catholic
Go to mass each week
i’d sit for 15 minutes
hear the father speak
i’d see all the heretics
i thought that they were blind
i’d just say, “forget them”
now, it’s “Miller Time!”

You ain’t a Christian
if you don’t do what i do

i used to be a Baptist
on the mourners bench
we’d hear the word for hours
(and) then go ride the fence
i’d see all the Methodists
“Hey man, you are so blind!
Y’better come to my church.
Pastor’s wife is fine!”

i was a Charismatic
danced and jumped the pew
we’d carry on till sunset
we would bind and loose
scorned the cold, dead churches
(they) never call The Name
they can’t speak in tongues... oh,
what a crying shame!

Now i follow Jesus
and the gospel way
no more criticism
there’s no more selfish hate
i don’t preach religion
or my own belief
i give the Spirit freedom
never cause Him grief

You ain’t a Christian
if you fuss and fight and feud
Let’s walk in love then
Let’s put on Jesus’ shoes

If you’re forgiven
you have the same to do
Let’s not be carnal
give up the Family Feud!
